Everton vs Manchester City‘s match started with full attacking forces.
At the second half, This game is far more comfortable than the first half, and it shows by which substitutes are warming up. Before Gundogan’s free-kick, it was Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish getting stretched and warm.
Mahrez escapes down the right and swings over a cross that looks headed for Haaland, but Patterson does well to stay with him and hook away. Then, as the ball drops, Pickford hands-off Haaland in the back of the head and I’ve not a clue how that’s not a penalty
After, it’s Cole Palmer, Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez and Rico Lewis. Guardiola still hasn’t turned to his bench, seemingly keen to ensure Everton aren’t allowed to get a consolation of any kind, but surely it’s time to look at resting Haaland’s legs, or someone like Rodri or Gundogan.

Akanji advances down the left and thrashes a cross beyond everyone. I’m surprised Guardiola hasn’t made changes yet, but I guess he’s preserving the players he wants preserved.
Still, I can’t imagine he wants Rodri and Haaland out there much longer.
Everton aren’t totally giving up and are trying to get back into the game. They just don’t have much imagination when they do get into good positions and are shooting from distance.
Dwight McNeil sees an effort deflected for a corner, which is just about dealt with by Ederson, albeit unconvincingly.
There’s a lack of finesse and imagination about this Everton side. I’m sure, if they stay up, Dyche will keep them up again next season, but how they get good I’ve not a clue given FFP, unreliable owners and a new ground being built.
